About the Role:
Ray's Market Cafe is hiring a part-time short-order cook to work Thursday through Sunday.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook short-order menu items, including breakfast, lunch, and daily specials
- Operate grill, fryer, and other kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation throughout each shift
- Monitor food quality, portion sizes, and presentation for every plate
- Restock and rotate ingredients, ensuring freshness and proper food storage
- Communicate effectively with front-of-house staff to ensure timely order fulfillment
- Follow all food safety and health code regulations consistently
Requirements:
- Prior experience as a short-order cook, line cook, or in a fast-paced kitchen environment is preferred
- Ability to work quickly and accurately during high-volume periods
- Knowledge of basic food prep, cooking techniques, and kitchen equipment
- Strong understanding of food safety, sanitation, and proper handling procedures
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work early morning, weekend, or holiday shifts as needed
- Ability to stand for extended periods and be able to lift 50 pounds
- Team-oriented attitude with strong communication skills
About Us:
Ray's Market Cafe is a staple at the Trenton Farmers Market, known for serving classic Italian hot dogs and other specialty sandwiches. We serve breakfast and lunch all day.
Compensation: $16.00 per hour
